An ka taa is an initiative to offer modern educational media, resources and services for current and emergent speakers of Manding—so there are no barriers to learning or using one of Africa’s most important languages. Videos are a major piece of this!

All of An ka taa’s major videos are available and sorted via playlists on the An ka taa YouTube channel.

Since some people can easily get lost on YouTube, I made this page as a central hub with links to help you quickly browse by major series, language variety, level, and/or location. Click on the links below to dive in!

By Major Series

  • Na baro kè: Street-side "chats" with everyday people in West Africa subtitled in Manding, English and French.

  • Basic Bambara: Lessons to help you learn the basics of Bambara/Dioula as spoken in Mali, Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire.

  • Kuma Bakolo: Lessons breaking down instances of Manding as it is spoken and written in the real world (e.g., headlines, lyrics, videos, etc)

  • Jaati: Subtitled "interview lessons" — with native speakers and teachers of Manding — that give you practical tips for speaking Bambara, Jula and Maninka more naturally.
